Jon Rahm of Spain, the world's No. 10-ranked golfer who competes on the LIV Golf circuit, will play in a PGA Tour event for the first time in three years.
U.S. golf outlet Golf Channel reported Tuesday that Rahm will compete in the Genesis Scottish Open, set for next month in Scotland. The Genesis Scottish Open will be held over four days starting July 9 at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland.
Rahm had been under a ban from PGA Tour events after his move to LIV Golf in 2023. He had also been in conflict with the DP World Tour. He then agreed in May to conditional participation with the DP World Tour, on the condition of paying fines.
The Genesis Scottish Open, which Rahm will now play, is co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour. It marks Rahm's first appearance at a PGA Tour event in about three years, since the 2023 Tour Championship. Thanks to his agreement with the DP World Tour, Rahm has also secured a path to compete in next year's Ryder Cup, the golf competition between the United States and Europe.
The Scottish Open, held a week before the season's final major, The Open, will feature Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland, Ludvig Aberg of Sweden, and Tommy Fleetwood of England.
