Austin Dean of the LG Twins, the leader in home runs in Korean professional baseball, became the first player this season to complete home runs against all clubs in the KBO League.
Austin started as the No. 3 designated hitter in a home game against the Samsung Lions at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Tuesday. Leading off in the bottom of the fourth inning with the score tied 0-0, he hit a solo home run over the left-field wall.
The home run, his first in three days, was his 22nd of the season, firmly cementing his sole lead in the category. He also widened his margin over second-place Kim Do-yeong of the KIA Tigers, who has 20, to two.
The home run carried meaning beyond a single hit. By recording his first home run of the season against Samsung, he became the first player to hit home runs against all 10 clubs in the KBO League this season.
This season, Austin hit the most home runs, five, against the SSG Landers. He recorded four against the NC Dinos and three each against the KIA Tigers and the Kiwoom Heroes.
Led by Austin's go-ahead solo shot, LG was leading Samsung 2-0 as of the top of the seventh inning.
