The LG Twins defeated their "Seoul rivals" the Doosan Bears behind Moon Bo-gyeong's go-ahead, game-winning three-run homer, extending their lead atop the standings.
LG came from behind to win 4-2 in their home game against Doosan in the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Saturday.
Having secured the series win in the three-game weekend set, LG holds a season record of 44 wins and 26 losses, firmly maintaining sole possession of first place. Doosan, meanwhile, fell to a two-game losing streak with a record of 34 wins, two draws and 35 losses, dropping below a .500 winning percentage.
The game drew attention as a matchup between domestic aces Lim Chan-kyu of LG and Kwak Bin of Doosan. The two pitchers held the opposing lineups scoreless through five innings in a tight pitchers' duel.
The balance broke in the top of the sixth. With runners on second and one out, created by leadoff hitter Lee Yu-chan's hit and Jung Soo-bin's sacrifice bunt, Doosan scored first on Ryu Seung-min's timely hit. Yang Eui-ji's sacrifice fly followed, putting Doosan ahead 2-0.
Trailing, LG immediately counterattacked. With one out in the bottom of the sixth, consecutive hits from Park Hae-min and Austin Dean created an opportunity, and Moon Bo-gyeong's RBI double brought back one run. However, LG failed to add more runs as Moon was picked off and Song Chan-eui struck out in the subsequent at-bats.
It was Moon Bo-gyeong's big hit that turned the game around. In the bottom of the eighth, LG created an opportunity with runners on first and second and one out, off pinch hitter Cheon Seong-ho's hit and Austin's walk. Moon, who came to bat next, connected on a 150 km/h fastball from Doosan closer Kim Taek-yeon and sent it over the center field fence for a go-ahead three-run home run.
Moon Bo-gyeong, who had been somewhat sluggish since returning from injury, drove in four runs including a double and the home run, playing the role of game-winner.
LG put in closer Son Joo-young in the top of the ninth to seal the game.
Son allowed consecutive hits to Yang Eui-ji and Kim Min-seok, then gave up an infield hit to Park Ji-hoon, leaving him in a bases-loaded, two-out jam. But he ended the game by retiring the final batter Lee Yu-chan on a grounder to third base.
Son recorded his 15th save of the season (one win). He continued his stability, not having recorded a single blown save since converting to closer.
LG's third pitcher Kim Young-woo took the relief win, picking up his third victory of the season.
