Kim Mu-ho of Ulju County Office, who has maintained an unbeaten run this season, claimed the title at the 2026 Boeun Dano Ssireum Championship, completing a career grand slam across the four major folk competitions.
Kim defeated Song Yeong-cheon of the Yeongam County Folk Ssireum Team 3-0 in the Halla-class (105 kg and under) jangsa final at the "Withus Pharmaceutical 2026 Boeun Dano Ssireum Championship," held Saturday at the Boeun National Sports Center in Boeun County, North Chungcheong Province.
With this victory, Kim became a wrestler who has conquered the Lunar New Year, Dano, Chuseok, and Cheonha Jangsa tournaments. By reaching the top of all four major folk competitions, he achieved a career grand slam.
Kim once again proved his standing as the strongest competitor by winning the jangsa title at all four tournaments he entered this season. His career total of Halla jangsa titles rose to 13.
He also extended his winning streak. Kim, who has recorded a perfect record this season, lengthened his winning streak to 19 matches with this tournament victory. He is now just one win short of tying the record of 20 consecutive wins.
The final was a complete victory for Kim. After seizing the initiative in the first bout with a deulbaejigi (lifting throw), he successfully executed milchigi (pushing strikes) in the second and third bouts, giving his opponent no opening to counter.
Immediately after the victory, Kim said, "Rather than having a special secret, I think 'having no secret is the secret.'" He added, "Rather than being conscious of the records, I am focusing on calmly preparing for each tournament." He continued, "I am very happy to have won this tournament. I will prepare well so that I can show a good performance in the next tournament as well."
