"Billiards Queen" Kim Ga-young (43, Hana Card) has surged toward her 20th career professional billiards victory.
Kim defeated Ko Eun-kyung 25-7 in just eight innings in the women's LPBA round of 64 (25-point format) at the 2026-2027 season PBA Tour Happiness Rest Stop for the People High1 Resort PBA-LPBA Championship, held Thursday at the Grand Hotel Convention Tower of High1 Resort in Jeongseon, Gangwon. Earlier, in the round of 128, she scored a complete 25-2 (18 innings) win over Oh Su-min.
The average of 3.125 that Kim recorded in the round of 64 is the third-highest in LPBA history, following Nguyen Hoang Yen Nhi (Vietnam, Harim, 3.571) and Kim Se-yeon (Huons, 3.143), and marks her personal best (previous best 2.750). After managing only two points through the first three innings, Kim began the fourth inning with five points, then posted a seven-point high run in the fifth inning to surge to 14-2 and seize the momentum, before reaching 25 points in the eighth inning to close out the match.
Kim, who claimed her 19th career victory at the season opener, is aiming for two straight wins to start the season, her 20th career title, and cumulative prize money of 1 billion won (currently 961.13 million won) at this tournament.
"Cambodian Express" Sruong Pheavy (Woori Financial Capital), along with Lee Mi-rae (High1 Resort), Kang Ji-eun (High1 Resort), Jung Su-bin (NH Nonghyup Card), and Kim Se-yeon (Huons), also joined the round of 32. In contrast, season opener runner-up Kim Min-a and Kim Bo-mi (both NH Nonghyup Card) suffered defeats.
On Friday, the men's PBA round of 128 and the first day of the LPBA round of 32 will be held.
