
The Korean Volleyball Federation (KOVO) has approved the membership of SOOP, an internet broadcasting platform company formerly known as AfreecaTV.
The federation held a board meeting and extraordinary general assembly on Tuesday and unanimously approved the new membership of SOOP, which is being relaunched after acquiring Pepper Savings Bank. As a result, the women's professional volleyball league will operate with a seven-club system in the 2026-2027 season as well.
SOOP plans to finalize its home base and club name in the near future and accelerate preparations for next season's league participation, including appointing a head coach and recruiting foreign players.
SOOP is reported to pay a total of 500 million won to the federation, consisting of a 200 million won new membership fee and a 300 million won special development fund.
Meanwhile, SOOP has appointed CEO Lee Min-won as club owner and Executive Director Lee Byung-ho as general manager. The company plans to soon pursue contracts with a head coach and foreign players, and to finalize its home base.
