Korean football veterans have stepped forward to support their juniors ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by North and Central American nations.
The Korea Football Association (KFA) announced Wednesday that "members of the Korea OB Football Association will deliver a cheering banner they created to the national football team."
The event drew approximately 600 participants, including 40 football veterans, around 500 players and officials, 20 OB Football Association directors, and more than 40 referees and operating committee members.
The Korea OB Football Association, chaired by Cho Young-jeung, created the banner featuring cheering messages from all attendees during the 23rd Kim Yong-sik Cup National Branch Tournament, held in Boeun, North Chungcheong Province, from the 30th to the 31st of last month.
The banner, containing the messages written by participants, will be delivered to KFA Secretary General Kim Seung-hee. Kim plans to bring it to Mexico, where the Korean national team's group-stage matches will be held, and hand it over to the players.
"Football seniors gathered their hearts to prepare a special event in support of the Korean national team's strong performance at the World Cup," OB Football Association Chairman Cho Young-jeung said. "I hope this will be a great source of strength for Hong Myung-bo's squad as they face the upcoming challenge, and I hope many people will send their support to the national team."
