Mikel Arteta, 44, of Spain, who led Arsenal to their first English Premier League (EPL) title in 22 years, has been named the league's Manager of the Year.
The EPL office announced on the 27th (Korea time) that "Manager Arteta has been awarded the 2025-2026 season Manager of the Year for leading Arsenal to the league championship for the first time in 22 years."
It is the first time Arteta has won the EPL Manager of the Year award. He took over Arsenal in December 2019 as the successor to Unai Emery after serving as an assistant coach at Manchester City.
For Arsenal, it marks the first time in 22 years that one of their managers has received the award since the legendary Arsene Wenger, who orchestrated the unbeaten title run in the 2003-2004 season. Wenger and Arteta are the only Arsenal managers ever named EPL Manager of the Year.
Wenger was selected as Manager of the Year in all three seasons (1997-1998, 2001-2002, 2003-2004) in which he led Arsenal to the league title.
Arsenal, who had finished as runners-up for three consecutive seasons, claimed the league trophy for the first time in 22 years in the 2025-2026 season with 85 points (26 wins, 7 draws, 5 losses), edging out Manchester City (78 points, 23 wins, 9 draws, 6 losses).
Arteta, who played for Arsenal from 2011 to 2016, also became the first manager to win the league title leading a club where he had previously played as an EPL player.
