Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Kim Hye-seong contributed to his team's victory with multiple times on base and active baserunning.
Kim went 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored, starting as the No. 8 hitter and second baseman in the home game against the Colorado Rockies in the 2026 MLB season at Uniqlo Field at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, on Wednesday (Korea time). It was Kim's first hit in three games since the May 21 game against the San Diego Padres, raising his season batting average slightly to .257.
Kim recorded a hit in his first at-bat. Leading off the third inning with the score tied at 0-0, he reached base on a single to right field, then sprinted home to score the game's first run on Enrique Hernandez's double down the left-field line. He grounded out to second base in the fourth inning.
Trailing 1-3 in the seventh inning with no outs and a runner on first, Kim drew a walk to reach first base. Pinch-hitter Miguel Rojas was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs, and the Dodgers cut the deficit to 2-3 on Shohei Ohtani's infield grounder. Kim, who had advanced to third base, scored on Mookie Betts' sacrifice fly to tie the game at 3-3.
The Dodgers took a 5-3 lead with Freddie Freeman's double followed by Andy Pages' timely hit. Kim grounded out in his final at-bat in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The Dodgers defeated Colorado 5-3 for their third consecutive win. With a record of 34 wins and 20 losses, the Dodgers extended their lead over the second-place San Diego Padres (31-22) in the National League West to 2.5 games, firmly holding onto first place.
