Park golf tournament operations, which have long relied on manual scoring, have taken their first step toward digital transformation with the introduction of an artificial intelligence (AI)-based integrated system. As a system that consolidates reservations, information delivery, and participant management is applied on-site for the first time, expectations are growing for improved participant convenience and operational efficiency.
According to industry sources on the 25th, Pixel Software, an affiliate of VoiceCaddie, applied its park golf integrated AI operation platform "VoicePark" on-site at the "4th Yeongnam-Honam Jeonnam-Gwangju-Gyeongbuk Association Executive Friendship Park Golf Tournament" held at Bujusan International Park Golf Course in Mokpo, South Jeolla Province on the 11th of this month. It marks the first case of introducing a digital system to park golf tournament operations.
Until now, park golf tournaments have typically operated by having participants apply through city or provincial associations, manually recording strokes on paper scorecards at the venue, and then having staff reorganize the results to calculate rankings. This process has consistently raised concerns about operational efficiency, as compiling records and tabulating rankings after games required considerable time.
For this tournament, however, participants installed the VoicePark application and experienced features such as reservations and information verification. Even participants unfamiliar with digital device operation directly used the system, gaining experience with the app's functions and operational process. Park Chul-hoon, president of the Yeosu City Park Golf Association, said, "I could check at a glance information that I usually had to search for individually or that was difficult to access, and the procedures were simple." He added, "I felt that if such systems become more widely adopted, it would also help advance park golf."
Ranking tabulation, which previously required separate processing after manual recording, now takes place in real time, leading to evaluations that fairness and transparency in operations have also improved. A Pixel Software official said, "Participants found it somewhat unfamiliar at first, but after using it themselves, they showed positive responses, noting that they could easily check the information they needed and that the procedures were simple."
Park Kyung-rae, president of the Jeollanam-do Park Golf Association, said, "It is significant in that a foundation has been laid to reduce the inconveniences and conflicts of first-come-first-served reservations that tens of thousands of members have experienced." He added, "We will work to establish a park golf culture that guarantees fair opportunities."
