Son Ki-min, 51, has won the Korea Mid-Amateur Golf Championship.
Son shot a 2-under-par 70 with three birdies and one bogey in the final third round of the Chammaru Construction Cup 32nd Korea Mid-Amateur Golf Championship, held Sunday at the Gold and Lake courses (par 72) of Gold Lake Country Club in Naju, South Jeolla Province. With a final total of 2-under-par 214, Son won by one stroke over runner-up Heo Ji-baek. He held the lead throughout rounds one through three, recording a wire-to-wire victory.
Having captured the national title event, Son secured a spot in next year's Kolon 69th Korea Open Golf Championship, earning the opportunity to compete alongside tour professionals.
It was Son's first victory in the tournament. His best previous finish was third place in 2023. "I've won the Mid-Amateur tournament again after three years. Many people helped me get to this point. I'm happy and grateful," Son said. "Winning a national title event still has me trembling, and I can't think of anything else. I'll continue to take good care of my body so I can enjoy golf in good health for a long, long time." Mid-amateur refers to pure amateur golfers aged 25 and older.
