Arsenal have claimed the English Premier League title for the first time in 22 years.
The Gunners secured the championship after Manchester City, managed by Pep Guardiola, drew 1-1 against Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium in the 37th round of the 2025-2026 Premier League season on Tuesday (Korea time). The triumph marks Arsenal's 14th league title, placing them third behind joint leaders Manchester United and Liverpool, who each have 20.
Arsenal had defeated Burnley 1-0 the previous day. With Manchester City held to a draw, the gap between the two clubs widened to four points. Even if City wins their final remaining regular-season match, they cannot overtake Arsenal. The title is Arsenal's first since the 2003-2004 season, when they completed an unbeaten campaign (26 wins, 12 draws) under manager Arsene Wenger.
The leadership of manager Mikel Arteta, who guided the team to the title, has also drawn the spotlight. Arteta had finished as runner-up for three consecutive seasons, repeatedly falling short at the final hurdle. In the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons, Arsenal led the table before being overtaken by Manchester City, and last season they were edged out by Liverpool. This season, however, Arteta maintained focus throughout a nail-biting final stretch against Manchester City, washing away the bitterness of past near-misses to lift the trophy.
Arsenal will play their final-round away match against Crystal Palace at midnight on May 25. They will then take on Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) of France in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) final at 1 a.m. on May 31, where they will pursue a double.
