Adam Scott of Australia is set to make his 100th consecutive appearance at a major championship.
According to the Associated Press on the 19th, Scott has secured a spot at the US Open, scheduled for June 18 in New York, marking his 100th consecutive appearance across the four major tournaments. Ranked 49th in the men's golf world rankings this week, Scott earned the US Open berth granted to players within the top 60. The US Open selects its field through stringent criteria and procedures, including past champions, world rankings, and regional qualifying.
The record for most consecutive major appearances belongs to "living golf legend" Jack Nicklaus of the United States. Nicklaus made 146 consecutive starts from the 1962 Masters through the 1998 US Open.
Scott has not missed a single major since the 2001 Open Championship. At the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines, he competed despite a broken finger bone, playing the first and second rounds alongside Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson of the United States. Scott has captured 14 victories on the PGA Tour, including his 2013 Masters title.
