Union Berlin's Jeong Woo-yeong, who failed to make South Korea's 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, netted his fifth goal of the season in the team's final match.
Jeong came on as a substitute in the 65th minute and sealed a 4-0 victory in the 34th and final round of the 2025-2026 Bundesliga season against Augsburg, played at An der Alten Försterei in Berlin on Friday.
Jeong scored after Dimitrio Bogdanov's shot was blocked by a defender's foot, allowing him to fire a follow-up attempt. As the goalkeeper came out to narrow the angle, he calmly rounded the keeper and finished with his left foot.
Jeong recorded five goals and one assist in the league this season, showing a solid performance as a second-line attacker, but was passed over by South Korea national team head coach Hong Myung-bo. He has not played a single A-match since Hong took charge. Jeong's name was also absent from the 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup announced Friday.
Union Berlin finished the season in 11th place out of 18 teams, with 39 points. Marie-Louise Eta, who took over as interim manager amid the team's second-half slump, wrapped up her first managerial stint on a high note with two consecutive wins.
In the previous round against Mainz, she led the team to a 3-1 victory, becoming the first female manager in the history of Europe's top five leagues to win a match.
