Kim Wan-soo, who led Cheongju KB Stars to the Women's Korean Basketball League (WKBL) championship last season, has chosen to continue with the team.
KB announced Wednesday that it has re-signed Kim to a three-year contract. The club did not disclose specific contract terms but described them as "among the highest in the league."
Kim, who took the helm at KB in 2021, led the team to an integrated championship last season on the back of outstanding player development and tight team chemistry.
"Coach Kim Wan-soo is a leader whose future achievements are as anticipated as his past performance," a club official said. "In particular, immediately after the season ended, he prioritized free agent negotiations and roster building over discussions of his own contract extension, greatly contributing to team stability."
Kim shared his thoughts through the club, saying, "I thank the club for placing its trust in me. I will do my best to deliver greater excitement and victories to the fans."
Meanwhile, KB has also re-signed head coach Oh Jung-hyun and assistant coach Jung Mi-ran, who have supported Kim.
In addition, veteran player Yeom Yoon-ah, who retired at the end of last season, has newly joined the staff as a development squad coach, completing the coaching lineup.
