World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler of the United States will face Matt Fitzpatrick of England again in the first and second rounds of the PGA Championship, the season's second major. World No. 2 Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland will be paired with Jon Rahm of Spain. The PGA Championship will be held over four days starting Wednesday at Aronimink Golf Club (par 70) in Newtown, Pennsylvania.
According to the pairings announced Monday, Scheffler was grouped with Fitzpatrick and Justin Rose of England. They will tee off at the first hole at 2:05 p.m. on Wednesday. Scheffler is aiming for a second consecutive title at the tournament, while Fitzpatrick is on a strong run this season with three wins on the PGA Tour. The two met in a playoff at the RBC Heritage last month, where Fitzpatrick defeated Scheffler to claim the title.
McIlroy will tee off at the 10th hole at 8:40 a.m. alongside Rahm and Jordan Spieth of the United States. McIlroy is seeking back-to-back major victories after winning the Masters, the season's first major, last month. Rahm has 11 career PGA Tour wins, including the 2023 Masters, and once held the world No. 1 ranking, but his ranking has dropped to 20th since joining LIV Golf in 2024. McIlroy publicly criticized Rahm when he moved to LIV Golf, creating friction between the two.
Among Korean players, Yang Yong-eun will start his first round at the first hole at 7:29 a.m., Kim Si-woo at the 10th hole at 8:07 a.m., and Im Sung-jae at the 10th hole at 12:32 p.m.
