Lee Jung-hoo recorded his first multi-hit game (two or more hits in a single game) in May.
Lee went 2-for-4 as the leadoff hitter and right fielder in the San Francisco Giants' home game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California, on Friday (Korea time). With the performance, Lee's season batting average stood at .270.
Through the previous day, Lee had been mired in a severe slump in May, going 2-for-22. But he collected two hits in this game.
With the score tied 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning and one out with a runner on first, Lee drove a splitter from Mitch Keller into right field for a single. The hit set up runners on first and third, but Luis Arraez grounded into a double play, failing to bring in a run. In the bottom of the fifth with two outs, Lee pushed another Keller pitch into left-center field for a hit. The Giants won the game 5-2.
The game was held by the Giants to celebrate "Korean Heritage Night." The club arranged an event in which Lee signed autographs and took photos with Korean fans who visited the ballpark. More Korean fans than usual attended the game.
