Yang Eui-ji of the Doosan Bears has been dropped from the starting lineup.
Yang was excluded from the starting lineup for the 2026 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League regular-season home game against the SSG Landers at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Monday. Daz Cameron will bat cleanup in Yang's place, while Yoon Jun-ho will wear the catcher's mask.
Yang's removal from the starting lineup stems from his poor performance. Ahead of the home game against the SSG Landers, Doosan manager Kim Won-hyung said, "Yang himself feels really sorry to the team. He can barely look me in the eye." He added, "Even the great Yang Eui-ji cannot produce at the plate when he is under psychological pressure." Yang will not appear as a pinch hitter in Monday's game either. He is also not scheduled to start on Tuesday.
Yang has gone hitless in four consecutive games since the match against the LG Twins on the 5th. This season, he is batting .205 (25 hits in 122 at-bats) with two home runs, 10 runs scored, 16 RBIs, 17 walks, and 18 strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Doosan removed infielder Ahn Jae-seok from the first-team roster on Monday. "Ahn Jae-seok felt pain in his left thigh while running the bases during the game on the 8th, and a detailed examination diagnosed him with a minor left quadriceps injury," a Doosan official said. "He is expected to rest for four days."
