SK Rent-a-Car, one of the inaugural teams in the Professional Billiards Association (PBA) Team League, will be dissolved.
The PBA announced the disbandment of SK Rent-a-Car on Friday and said the 2026-2027 Team League draft has been rescheduled from the 6th to the 14th.
The PBA secretariat abruptly notified the cancellation of the draft on the morning of the 6th, when it had originally been scheduled. Negotiations with a company that had been discussing the acquisition of SK Rent-a-Car and its participation in the Team League reportedly broke down just before the draft.
"For the vacant 10th team slot, the PBA plans to take a leading role in setting operational policies and forming a team before the season opens," the PBA secretariat said, signaling its intention to maintain the 10-team system.
With the disbandment of SK Rent-a-Car, players including Kang Dong-koong, Cho Kun-hwi, Kang Ji-eun and Cho Ye-eun, as well as Eddy Leppens of Belgium, Ngo Dinh Nai of Vietnam and Orie Hida of Japan, will be available for selection and seek new teams.
The nine remaining teams participating in the Team League must submit their lists of protected and released players to the association by the 11th, and the association will announce the final list of draft-eligible players, including released players, on the same day.
Meanwhile, the PBA will hold a PBA-LPBA Tour Media Day on the 12th, ahead of the draft, to mark the start of the new season.
