Lee Sang-dae and Kim Jung-ki lifted the trophy after a shootout finish at a national billiards tournament featuring Professional Billiards Association (PBA) players paired with amateur enthusiasts.
The duo defeated the Oh Tae-jun and Kim Dong-jun pair in the final of the "2026 Professional Billiards Players Association Chairman's Cup National Billiards Tournament for Pros and Amateurs," held Tuesday at the PBA Stadium in KINTEX, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. Kang Sang-gu and Oh Hee-taek, along with Lee Jae-hong and Ji Jae-yong, tied for third place.
The winning team of Lee Sang-dae and Kim Jung-ki received 10 million won ($7,300) in prize money along with two cue sets valued at 4 million won. The runner-up team of Lim Tae-soo and Son Bu-won received 2.5 million won in prize money and two cue sets worth 3 million won.
The final went down to the wire as both teams exchanged sets to reach a 2-2 tie, forcing a shootout. Oh Tae-jun, shooting first, missed his opening shot, and Lee Sang-dae also failed to score. Kim Dong-jun and Kim Jung-ki then both missed their second-inning attempts, keeping tension high.
Oh Tae-jun had another chance in the third inning but dropped his head as his cross-table shot went wide. Lee Sang-dae, shooting next, converted a clean around-the-table shot to end the long battle. The shootout ended 1-0, securing the championship for Lee Sang-dae and Kim Jung-ki.
Speaking about his partner, Lee said, "We've been connected through billiards for 15 years. He's 10 years older than me, but our styles match well." He added, "This is my first victory since turning pro. I'll do my best to carry this momentum into a championship next season." Kim Jung-ki said, "Lee Sang-dae's wife (Park Da-som of LPBA) helped bring us together as a team and supported our tournament preparations in every way. I'll be sure to repay her."
Organized and hosted by the Professional Billiards Players Association, the tournament is an event-style competition in which pro players and amateur enthusiasts compete as teams. A total of 162 teams (324 players) participated, competing under Scotch doubles rules, in which teammates take turns at offensive play.
