
Chung Mong-yul, chairman of KCC Engineering & Construction, has been appointed as the new owner of the Busan KCC professional basketball club.
Announcing Chung's inauguration Tuesday, the club said, "Based on the management expertise he has accumulated as a professional executive leading affiliates within the group, Chairman Chung will significantly contribute to the efficient operation of the club, improved investment efficiency, and strengthened brand value, bringing practical management improvements and new changes to the basketball club while also contributing greatly to the development of Korean professional basketball."
The new owner is the third son of the late Chung Sang-young, honorary chairman of KCC.
Meanwhile, KCC advanced to the championship finals after finishing sixth in the regular season and defeating Wonju DB and Anyang Jeongkwanjang in the playoffs. KCC will face Goyang Sono in the best-of-seven championship series starting Wednesday. The team is aiming for its seventh overall championship title and first since the 2023-2024 season.
