Kim Si-woo (31, CJ) continued his pursuit of the leader after climbing the leaderboard at the PGA Tour's Cadillac Championship, which carries a total purse of $20 million.
Kim carded a 3-under 69 with five birdies and two bogeys in the third round held Sunday (Korea time) at the Trump National Doral Blue Monster Course (par 72) in Miami, Florida. At 9-under 207 through 54 holes, he jumped to a tie for second from tied-sixth a day earlier. He trails sole leader Cameron Young of the United States, who stands at 15-under, by six strokes.
Kim, a four-time PGA Tour winner, has yet to win this season but has posted five top-10 finishes in his previous 11 events, showing solid form. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler of the United States also cut three strokes to join Kim in a tie for second, aiming for his second victory of the season after capturing The American Express in January.
Kim made three birdies and two bogeys on the front nine to go 1-under, then added two more birdies on the back. On the par-4 16th hole, he picked up a stroke with a daring tee shot that carried over the water and landed beside the green. "Cameron is playing really well, but I'm going to play my own game," Kim said. "On this course, if you push too hard, you can shoot 80, so you have to clearly decide whether to play aggressively or conservatively."
Im Sung-jae, who dropped one stroke, fell to 67th at 4-over.
