LG Twins defeated the NC Dinos for a second straight win, powered by strong performances from their foreign players.
LG won 5-1 in a home game against the NC Dinos in the 2026 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League held at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Sunday.
Anders Tolhurst pitched a strong outing while Austin Dean and Song Chan-eui hit home runs. With two outs in the bottom of the third, Chun Seong-ho hit a triple, followed by Austin's two-run homer over the left-field wall. The blast, Austin's seventh of the season, placed him in a tie for second in the category. After subsequent batter Moon Bo-gyeong drew a walk, Song Chan-eui stepped up to the plate and launched another two-run home run, putting LG ahead 4-0. In the fourth inning, Hong Chang-ki added another run with a sacrifice fly to stretch the lead to 5-0.
NC pulled one back on Matt Davidson's RBI single in the top of the seventh, but the rally ended there. NC outhit LG 8-5 but failed to deliver timely hits, leaving 13 runners on base. LG starter Tolhurst struck out five over 6⅓ innings, allowing seven hits and one run to notch his fourth win of the season. NC starter Natsuki Toda, meanwhile, was tagged with his fourth loss (against one win) of the season after giving up five runs on five hits (two home runs) with two walks and four strikeouts over five innings.
LG, which lifted team morale with two consecutive victories after a three-game losing streak, held on to second place and continued its race near the top of the standings. The team improved its season record to 18 wins and 10 losses. NC moved to 13 wins and 15 losses.
