Korea Expressway Corporation, a women's professional volleyball club, announced Tuesday that it has signed Japan's Mami Uchiseto as its new Asian quota player to bolster the team's roster for the 2026-2027 season. The contract terms call for a total annual salary of $150,000.
Uchiseto is a veteran defensive outside hitter who accumulated extensive international experience as a core member of Japan's national team for about nine years starting in 2014.
She boasts world-class defensive skills, having been named Best Receiver at the 2017 FIVB Grand Champions Cup.
Korea Expressway chose Uchiseto to maximize the team's greatest strengths: tenacious defense and cohesive teamwork. The club expects that Uchiseto's arrival will stabilize the receive line, enabling smoother ball distribution from the setter and creating more diverse attack routes.
"It is an honor to join Korea Expressway Corporation," Uchiseto said through the club. "I will do my best to quickly blend into the team and aim for the championship so that Expressway's tenacious volleyball can shine."
