Uljin County in North Gyeongsang Province will temporarily open its newly built Nam-Uljin Park Golf Course for one month starting May 4, the county announced Thursday.
The Nam-Uljin Park Golf Course is a 36-hole facility built on a 67,000-square-meter (about 20,267-pyeong) site along the Namdae Stream in Pyeonghae-eup. The trial run, which will run from May 4 to June 3, is designed to inspect turf establishment, user flow, and operational systems ahead of the official opening.
During the trial period, use will be limited to Uljin County residents to stabilize the facility, and the course will be open free of charge without a reservation. Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the course will be closed every Thursday for maintenance. Users must bring identification to verify their residence.
The county plans to enhance the facility by incorporating feedback from the trial period. After the official opening, it will introduce an integrated reservation system and expand amenities such as a clubhouse. The county also plans to host national-level tournaments and build infrastructure for extended-stay sports tourism to draw more outside visitors.
"We will continue to improve the operational quality of the Nam-Uljin Park Golf Course so that it can serve not only to promote residents' health but also to establish itself as a differentiated sports tourism resource utilizing the natural environment of the East Coast," an Uljin County official said.
