Lee Jung-hoo (28, San Francisco Giants) recorded his third four-hit game since his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut and his first of the season.
Lee started as the leadoff hitter and right fielder against the Miami Marlins at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California on Thursday (Korea time), going 4-for-5 with two runs scored in the 2026 MLB home game. It was his third four-hit game in the big leagues, following two such performances last season. After recording multiple hits in each game of the three-game series, his season batting average rose to .316 (31-for-98).
Leading off the bottom of the first, Lee drove the first pitch from Marlins starter Max Meyer — a 94.5 mph (152 km/h) fastball — for a triple. However, the next three batters failed to reach base, leaving him stranded.
Lee completed his multi-hit performance in his second at-bat. With the team trailing 0-3 and one out in the bottom of the third, he singled to left field. He advanced to second on a hit-by-pitch to Matt Chapman and came around to score on an infield grounder by Luis Arraez that the defense mishandled. He added another single to right field with two outs and none on in the bottom of the fifth.
With the score tied 3-3, Lee led off the bottom of the seventh and sparked the comeback. He jumped on the first pitch from Miami's third pitcher, left-hander Andrew Nardi, and a mishit ball fell in a gap between the infield and outfield for a lucky hit. With runners on second and third and one out, Casey Schmitt launched a go-ahead three-run homer over the left-center field fence, allowing Lee to score the go-ahead run. In his fifth at-bat in the bottom of the eighth, he flied out to left field.
San Francisco came back to win 6-3. The Giants, who took the three-game series, improved to 13-15 on the season and remained in fourth place in the National League West.
