An 18-hole park golf course has opened in Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province.
The city said Thursday that it held a completion ceremony for the Gohyeon Port Park Golf Course on the 24th at the Gohyeon Port landfill site. The newly developed park golf course spans approximately 12,000 square meters (about 3,727 pyeong) and features an 18-hole course along with amenities including a parking lot, lounge, rest areas, and an administrative office.
The city pushed ahead with the development of a park golf course utilizing the Gohyeon Port area after determining that related facilities were insufficient to meet the recent growth in park golf enthusiasts. Construction began in November last year and took about five months, with the course built on the site of the Gohyeon Port passenger terminal.
Approximately 150 people attended the completion ceremony, including Geoje Mayor Byun Kwang-yong, lawmaker Seo Il-jun, other city officials, and local residents, to celebrate the facility's opening.
"I would like to thank the citizens who have waited a long time," Mayor Byun said in his commemorative speech. "I hope the Gohyeon Port Park Golf Course will further enhance citizens' sports and leisure environment and become a valuable space for spreading a healthy leisure culture."
