"In baseball, you don't need to lead for long. You just need to win at the end." SBS Sports commentator Ahn Kyung-hyun's so-called "ya-o-i-ma-i" philosophy became reality.
The LG Twins scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to pull off a dramatic come-from-behind victory over the Doosan Bears in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO).
Trailing 3-5 entering the ninth, LG rallied to win 7-5 in the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League regular season road game held at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Tuesday.
LG controlled the early momentum. Capitalizing on control problems from Doosan starter Choi Min-seok, LG loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the first on a walk to leadoff hitter Hong Chang-ki and a single by Chun Sung-ho. Consecutive RBI doubles from Austin Dean and Moon Sung-joo plated three runs.
The lead did not last. LG starter Anders Tolhurst also struggled with his control, issuing three consecutive walks in the bottom of the first to create his own trouble. Daz Cameron's RBI single and a sacrifice fly cut the deficit to 3-2. Doosan then took the lead 4-3 in the second on a two-run homer to left by Park Chan-ho, and extended it to 5-3 with an additional run in the third.
LG's silent bats erupted in the final inning. Leadoff hitter Song Chan-ui opened the ninth with a double over the left fielder's head. A single by Ku Bon-hyuk and a walk to Chun Sung-ho loaded the bases with one out.
Austin then tied the game with a two-run single up the middle. A single by Moon Bo-gyeong reloaded the bases, and Moon Sung-joo's RBI single to center gave LG a 6-5 lead. Oh Ji-hwan added an insurance run with a sacrifice fly.
Doosan exposed a bullpen gap on the day, with closer Kim Taek-yeon removed from the active roster due to a shoulder injury. Lee Byung-hun took over as the replacement closer but collapsed under the ninth-inning barrage.

LG was also missing closer Yoo Young-chan due to an elbow injury, but Jang Hyun-sik held Doosan scoreless in the bottom of the ninth to preserve the win.
The undisputed star of the game was Austin. He went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored, including the game-tying hit, completing the dramatic comeback.
