Kim Si-woo finished solo third at the PGA Tour's RBC Heritage, which carried a total purse of $20 million, hitting the jackpot with 2 billion won in prize money. With this finish, Kim has earned a total of 5.9 billion won this season. If he maintains his current momentum, he is expected to comfortably surpass last year's prize money of 6.2 billion won.
Kim shot a 3-under 68 with four birdies and one bogey in the final round held Sunday at the par-71 Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Finishing at a total of 16-under 268, he wrapped up the tournament in solo third, behind Matt Fitzpatrick of England, who won in a playoff, and runner-up Scottie Scheffler of the United States, both at 18-under.
Kim, a four-time PGA Tour winner, recorded his third top-5 finish in 11 starts this season. Following his tied-for-second finish at the Farmers Insurance Open in February and tied-for-third at the WM Phoenix Open, he extended his strong run at this tournament. He is on pace to easily surpass his personal best of four top-5 finishes in the 2018-2019 season. He also recorded his fifth top-10 finish of the season, tying his personal best for top-10 finishes in a single season.
Kim's consistent performance this season has already brought him prize money nearly matching last year's total. After earning $4,184,686 (approximately 6.2 billion won) in 30 tournaments last season, he has collected $3,971,938 (approximately 5.9 billion won) in just 11 events this season. He pocketed $1.36 million (approximately 2 billion won) from this tournament alone, thanks to strong finishes in the signature events, which are held only eight times per season.
Fitzpatrick, who began the day with a three-stroke lead, shaved only one stroke off his score and entered a playoff with world No. 1 Scheffler, who cut four strokes. On the first playoff hole at No. 18, Fitzpatrick drained a birdie to lift the trophy. It was his second win of the season and fourth career PGA Tour victory. The winner's prize money was $3.6 million (approximately 5.28 billion won). Scheffler finished as runner-up for the second consecutive week following the Masters Tournament.
