Choi Deung-kyu, chairman of Daebo Group, and his son Choi Jung-hoon, vice chairman of Edo, have been named to the top 10 of "Asia's Golf Power Figures." It marks the fourth consecutive year the father and son have been jointly selected.
According to Edo on Wednesday, Chairman Choi ranked second in the Asia Golf Power Figures list announced by U.S. golf industry magazine Golf Inc. His ranking rose one notch from third place last year. Choi was recognized for his contributions including hosting the global Korean Wave concert "Seowon Valley Charity Green Concert."
His son, Edo Vice Chairman Choi Jung-hoon, was ranked eighth. Vice Chairman Choi is the youngest executive among those selected. He received high marks for contributing to the expansion of golf's base and the cultivation of next-generation talent through the expanded operation of golf courses such as Club D The Players, the promotion of the junior development program "Club D Kkumnamu," and the hosting of the amateur tournament "Club D Amateur Eco Championship."
Four Koreans were named to this year's top 10 Asia Golf Power Figures. In addition to the Choi father-son duo, Golfzon Group Chairman Kim Young-chan ranked first and Korea Industrial Yanghang Chairman Yoo Shin-il placed third.
