Tottenham Hotspur, struggling in the Premier League relegation zone, failed to secure a victory in new manager Roberto De Zerbi's first home match.
Tottenham drew 2-2 with Brighton & Hove Albion in their Round 33 home match of the 2025-2026 English Premier League (EPL) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Sunday (Korea time). The result extended Tottenham's winless run in the league to 15 consecutive matches.
Having dropped to 18th place following their previous defeat to Sunderland, Tottenham added one point but saw no change in the standings. The club sits one point behind 17th-placed West Ham (32 points), the survival threshold, and two points behind 16th-placed Nottingham Forest (33 points).
Tottenham took the lead twice during the match but could not hold on for the win. In the 39th minute of the first half, Pedro Porro headed in a precise cross from Xavi Simons to open the scoring. Tottenham conceded an equalizer in the third minute of first-half stoppage time, but Simons struck again in the 32nd minute of the second half to restore the lead. However, a lapse in defensive concentration just before the final whistle allowed Brighton to equalize, leaving the match at 2-2.
De Zerbi made his debut before home fans but was left disappointed. After the match, he said, "A draw feels like a defeat, but it's not over yet." He added, "We can still take 15 points from the remaining five matches, and this team is capable of winning five in a row. There is no time to be sad, no time to look at negative people."
