Daejeon Hana Citizen snapped a three-match losing streak, while FC Seoul suffered its first league defeat of the season after seven unbeaten matches.
Daejeon defeated Seoul 1-0 in the eighth round of the Hana Bank K League 1 2026, held at Seoul World Cup Stadium on Tuesday.
Though mentioned as a title contender before the season opener, Daejeon had slipped to 11th place after three consecutive scoreless defeats. A decisive goal from Yoo Kang-hyun changed the course of the match. Yoo finished off a short grounded cross from Kim Moon-hwan on the right flank with his left foot while falling to the ground.
With the win, Daejeon improved to two wins, three draws and three losses (nine points), returning to the middle of the table. "It was a tough match, but we won thanks to the fans' support and the players giving their all," head coach Hwang Sun-hong said after the match. "This is just the beginning, and we will pour out all our capabilities to climb higher."
Seoul maintained first place with 19 points but saw its opening seven-match unbeaten run (six wins, one draw) come to an end.
