San Francisco Giants outfielder Lee Jung-hoo recorded his fourth multi-hit game (two or more hits in a single game) of the season in Major League Baseball.
Lee started as the No. 6 hitter and right fielder in a road game against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Wednesday (Korea time), going 2-for-4 at the plate. The Giants lost 2-1, suffering their third consecutive defeat and falling to last place with a 6-11 record.
Lee struggled at the plate early this season, with his batting average stuck in the .100s. However, three days after his game against the Baltimore Orioles on April 12 (2-for-4), he has recorded multi-hit games in three of his last four games, showing signs of his batting returning to form. His season batting average has risen to .207 (12 hits in 58 at-bats).
In his first at-bat in the top of the second inning with one out and no runners on base, Lee lined a sinker from Cincinnati right-handed starter Brady Singer to left field for a single. Trailing 1-0 with two outs in the top of the fourth, he pulled a sinker from Singer for a double. He grounded out to first base in the sixth inning and flied out to right field in the ninth.
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Kim Hye-seong started as the No. 8 hitter at Uniqlo Field at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, against the New York Mets, going 0-for-1 with a walk. With back-to-back hitless games, his season batting average dropped from .308 to .286 (4 hits in 14 at-bats).
