Ko Woo-suk (Detroit Tigers) pitched 2 scoreless innings in his first game after being demoted from Triple-A to Double-A in the minor leagues.
Now playing for the Double-A Erie SeaWolves, Ko recorded 2 innings with 1 hit allowed, 1 strikeout, no walks, and no runs in an away game against the Chesapeake Baysox (a Baltimore Orioles affiliate) at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie, Maryland, on Saturday (local time).
Ko took the mound as the team's second pitcher in the bottom of the seventh inning with the score tied 1-1. He retired batters in order through the bottom of the eighth inning before handing the ball to Wandisson Charles. Ko threw 28 pitches with 21 strikes, delivering his best performance. However, the team lost 2-1 after allowing a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth.
Ko, who continues his pursuit of the major leagues, started this season in Triple-A. However, he struggled there as well, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) in 1⅓ innings over 2 games for an ERA of 20.25. As a result, he is now continuing his challenge at the lower Double-A level.
