Kwon Sung-hoon secured his first professional victory at the third KPGA Challenge Tour event, the second-tier competition of the Korea Professional Golfers' Association with total prize money of 100 million won.
Kwon shot 4-under par in the second round at Gunsan Country Club's Jeonbuk-Iksan Course (par 71) in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province, on Tuesday, finishing with a total of 7-under par 135 to win by one stroke over a group tied for second place. The winner's purse was 20 million won.
"I'm so happy," Kwon said after the victory. "I played steadily today and didn't miss my chances. There were some difficult moments, but luck was on my side. Focusing on my game step by step without worrying about the score led me to this win."
Kwon took up golf at age 12 at his father's suggestion. During his amateur career, he won one title each at the Korea Junior and Senior Golf Federation event in 2018 and the Korea University Golf Federation event in 2022. After becoming a KPGA Tour professional in 2024, he has been competing on the Challenge Tour.
The fourth KPGA Challenge Tour event will be held at the same venue from April 9 to 10.
