South Korean national team midfielder Lee Kang-in contributed to his club Paris Saint-Germain's victory in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
PSG secured a 2-0 victory against Liverpool (England) in the home match of the 2025-2026 UCL quarterfinal first leg at Parc des Princes in Paris, France, on Wednesday. With this win, defending champions PSG have taken a favorable position for advancing to the semifinals. They will advance to the last four even if they lose by just one goal in the second leg away at Liverpool on the 15th.
Lee Kang-in started on the bench and entered the pitch in the 78th minute, replacing Désiré Doué, after his team had taken a 2-0 lead. He played until the final whistle but did not record any goal contributions. Lee has appeared in 10 UCL matches this season, all as a substitute, recording one assist.
PSG broke the deadlock just 11 minutes into the first half. Doué, playing as a right winger, struck a right-footed shot from the left corner of the opponent's penalty area. The ball deflected slightly off a defender and found its way into the Liverpool net. After ending the first half 1-0, PSG secured a two-goal victory when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia added another goal in the 65th minute.
In the clash between Spanish clubs FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, the visiting Madrid side claimed victory and took the upper hand in the race for the semifinals. Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-0 with consecutive goals from Julián Álvarez in first-half stoppage time and Alexander Sørloth in the 70th minute. Barcelona failed to overcome the numerical disadvantage after defender Pau Cubarsí was sent off in the 44th minute, suffering a two-goal defeat.
