Actor Song Joong-ki will wear the iconic Masters caddie boiler suit and take part in a pre-tournament event at the Masters.
According to Im Sung-jae on Sunday, he will bring Song Joong-ki along for the Par 3 Contest, the eve-of-tournament event ahead of the 90th Masters, the season's first major in men's golf.
The Par 3 Contest is an event where players go around nine par-3 holes — set up right next to Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia — with family and friends. Im participated in the event with his father in 2022. This time, he has decided to hand his golf bag to Song Joong-ki, with whom he has built a friendship over the past several years. Song, an avid golfer, plans to hit a tee shot on behalf of Im on at least one of the nine holes.
Song has been expanding his golf-related activities since becoming an ambassador for the R&A, the organization that hosts The Open Championship, in February last year. In July last year, he visited Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, the venue of The Open, and walked the course with players during practice rounds. Earlier that February, he also appeared as a speaker at a side event of the LPGA Tour's HSBC Women's World Championship in Singapore.
Korean players have often been joined by celebrities at the Par 3 Contest even before Im. In 2024, actor Ryu Jun-yeol caddied for Tom Kim and showcased impressive tee shots.
