Yang Hyun-jun of Celtic scored immediately upon returning to his club after wearing the national team jersey for the first time in nine months.
Yang started and played the full match in Celtic's 2025-2026 Scottish Premiership Round 32 away fixture against Dundee at Dens Park on May 6 (Korea time), netting the opening goal in the eighth minute of the first half. Tomoki Iwata struck a left-footed shot inside the penalty area that was saved by the goalkeeper, and as the ball rolled in front of the goal, Yang rushed in, beat the keeper, and slotted the ball home with his left foot.
The goal marked Yang's seventh league goal this season (along with one assist) and his ninth in all competitions. Yang also scored one goal each in the UEFA Europa League and the Scottish League Cup this season. The strike came just two matches after he bagged a brace in Celtic's 3-1 home victory over Motherwell in Round 30 on April 15.
Yang was recently named to the squad by national team head coach Hong Myung-bo for two away matches in Europe in March. He came off the bench in the second half in both games — a 4-0 loss to Ivory Coast and a 1-0 defeat to Austria. It was his first call-up in nine months, since the final two matches of the Asian qualifying round for the FIFA World Cup in North and Central America last June.
Celtic took the lead through Yang's goal but conceded an equalizer from a penalty kick by Simon Murray in the 57th minute. Substitute Kelechi Iheanacho then struck the winner in the 82nd minute to seal a 2-1 victory. The win lifted Celtic to 64 points, maintaining third place. They trail leaders Heart of Midlothian by three points on 67.
