Kim Si-woo moved up to a tie for 22nd place on the third day of the PGA Tour Valero Texas Open (total purse $9.8 million). The tournament was disrupted by severe weather.
Kim recorded three birdies through 14 holes in the third round at TPC San Antonio (par 72) in San Antonio, Texas, on Friday. His running total of 7-under par lifted him from a tie for 33rd the previous day to a tie for 22nd.
Severe weather disrupted play during the third round, and none of the 70 players who made the cut completed 18 holes. The remainder of the third round and the fourth round will be played on Saturday.
Kim still has four holes left in the third round but trails the tied-for-10th group by just two strokes, leaving him with a realistic chance of a top-10 finish depending on how the remaining holes play out. Kim rode an early-season surge with three top-10 finishes in his first four tournaments but failed to crack the top 10 in any of the four events since. This week's tournament offers a chance to regain momentum ahead of next week's Masters, the first major of the season.
Robert MacIntyre of Scotland leads outright at 15-under par after completing just six holes of the third round. Ludvig Åberg of Sweden sits alone in second place, two strokes back, also through six holes. Kim Sung-hyun is tied for 41st at 5-under par with nine holes still to play in the third round.
