Led by "Cuban Express" Giselle Silva, GS Caltex celebrated a spectacular "cherry blossom ending" in the 2025-2026 season Jin Air V-League women's professional volleyball championship finals.
GS Caltex defeated Korea Expressway Corporation 3-1 (25-15, 19-25, 25-20, 25-20) in Game 3 of the championship finals (best-of-five series) at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul on Saturday. With a clean 3-0 series sweep, GS Caltex reclaimed the title for the first time in five years since the 2020-2021 season. It marks the team's fourth championship finals victory, following titles in the 2007-2008, 2013-2014, and 2020-2021 seasons.
GS Caltex had posted a 1-5 record against Korea Expressway Corporation during the regular season but turned the tables in the championship finals, winning two consecutive away games in Gimcheon before clinching the title with a victory at their home court in Jangchung Gymnasium.
GS Caltex, which finished third in the regular season, won their semi-playoff (single-elimination) match against fourth-place Heungkuk Life Insurance, swept second-place Hyundai Engineering & Construction 3-0 in the playoff series (best-of-three), and then completed a 3-0 sweep of Korea Expressway Corporation in the championship finals to lift the champion's trophy. It was a perfect run without a single loss from the semi-playoffs through the championship finals. GS Caltex set historic records as the first team entering from the semi-playoffs to win the championship finals and the first third-place regular season team to win the championship finals without a loss.
