Some golfers go agonizingly long without ever making a hole-in-one. Park Sung-hyun, 32, a former world No. 1 nicknamed "Namdalra," was one of them. She had competed in 145 LPGA Tour events and 89 KLPGA Tour events without ever recording an ace.
The past tense is used because Park finally broke through. The lucky stage was The Siena Open, her 90th KLPGA Tour appearance.
Park recorded her first official hole-in-one during the third round of The Siena Open (total purse: 1 billion won), the KLPGA domestic season opener, held Saturday at The Siena Belluto (par 72) in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province.
