"I'm aware there were comments like 'Is she even still playing golf?' or 'Shouldn't she just quit?' So I wanted to show people in Korea that I'm still working hard."
Park Sung-hyun (33), who is starting her new season domestically, said at a press conference held at The Siena Belluto CC in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, on Tuesday for the opening of The Siena Open 2026, "I'm honestly a bit worried about playing my first event in Korea. I'll do my best to show that I can at least keep up with the support I'm receiving."
Park debuted on the LPGA Tour in 2017 and posted seven victories including the U.S. Women's Open, rising to world No. 1. However, she has been unable to win since 2020 due to lingering injuries. Having lost her tour card at the end of last year, she has decided to compete on the Epson Tour, the LPGA's second tier, this season. Before beginning her stint on the U.S. second-tier circuit, she is sharpening her game at The Siena Open, hosted by her apparel sponsor.
