Park Hyun-kyung (26, Mediheal), a player on the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour, held an amateur tournament bearing her name for the second time, funded by her own money and sponsor prizes, her management agency said.
The 2nd Park Hyun-kyung Cup Amateur Golf Championship, co-hosted with the Jeonbuk Province Golf Association, was held on March 26-27 at Shangri-La Country Club in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, with 70 elementary, middle and high school players participating.
Park, who attended the awards ceremony and held an autograph session, said, "Shangri-La is the golf course where I played my first round after taking up golf. It is especially meaningful to host a golf tournament under my name at this course." She added, "I wanted to help junior players who are also my juniors from my hometown, so I prepared the tournament again this year. I will continue to cheer them on so they can grow into outstanding players."
