Lee Jung-hoo, nicknamed "Grandson of the Wind," reached base for the second consecutive game and contributed to the San Francisco Giants' victory.
The Giants defeated the San Diego Padres 3-2 on Wednesday at Petco Park in San Diego, California. San Francisco, which had opened the season with three straight losses, secured its first win of the season in a one-run road game.
Lee started as the No. 6 hitter in right field and went 0-for-3 with one run scored, one walk and one strikeout. Though he reached base on a walk, Lee failed to produce a hit, and his season batting average dropped to .077 (1-for-13).
In the top of the second inning with two outs, Lee pulled a 144 km/h (89.5 mph) changeup from San Diego starter Walker Buehler but grounded out to first base on a 1-1 count.
In the top of the fourth with one out and a runner on first, Lee drew a walk by laying off Buehler's knuckle curve that broke away outside.
With two outs and runners on first and second, consecutive hits by Patrick Bailey and Casey Schmid brought Lee home to score.
In the top of the sixth with one out, Lee hit a 132.6 km/h (82.4 mph) curve from San Diego's third pitcher David Morgan the opposite way, but flied out to left field.
In the top of the eighth with two outs, Lee struck out on a 148.2 km/h (92.1 mph) four-seam fastball on the outside corner from San Diego's fourth pitcher Ron Marinaccio.
