FJ (FootJoy) has launched its next-generation PRO/SL golf shoe, a product that completely redesigns every aspect of golf shoe construction.
The shoe features a meticulously re-engineered structure spanning the upper layout, traction system and cushioning design. The company refined the final product by incorporating real-world feedback from tour players including Im Sung-jae of the PGA Tour. FJ says the shoe delivers unmatched performance based on its new Z-TEC technology, setting a new standard for spikeless golf footwear.
Since its initial launch in 2016, the PRO/SL has sold more than 3 million pairs over roughly a decade, establishing itself as FJ's flagship spikeless performance golf shoe. The design satisfies both tour-level stability and comfort simultaneously. Im has trusted the model since its earliest versions, earning it the nickname "Im Sung-jae's golf shoe" among Korean golfers. "The stable support and restrained responsiveness best suit my playing style, which demands strong lower-body lead and a consistent swing tempo," Im said.
For this latest iteration, FJ again incorporated tour player feedback during the development process. The design started from a fundamental question: how should the two distinct movements of swinging and walking achieve balance within a single golf shoe? The answer is Z-TEC — Zonal Targeted Engineered Composite.
Z-TEC is a zone-based performance design that places the right function in exactly the right location. Areas that move are made more flexible. Areas that need cushioning are made more comfortable. Areas that need support are made firmer. This composite structure with clearly defined roles for each zone ensures stable support during the swing and natural comfort during walking.
