Through the first eight holes on the final day, Yun Yi-na's scorecard showed just one bogey. The other seven holes were all pars. Over the remaining 10 holes, the pattern flipped — only one par was recorded. The other nine holes were filled with birdies or bogeys. It was a scorecard that illustrated just how volatile her back-nine play was. Yun's first top-10 of the season came the hard way.
After recording her first top-10 of last year at her 25th tournament, Yun signaled a breakthrough this year by posting a career-best finish inside the top 10 in just her fourth event.
In the final fourth round of the LPGA Tour Ford Championship held Wednesday (Korea time) at the Cattail Course of Whirlwind Golf Club in Phoenix, Arizona, Yun Yi-na carded six birdies and four bogeys for a 2-under-par 70. With a 72-hole total of 18-under-par 270, Yun finished in a tie for sixth. The result surpassed her previous career best of tied 10th at the Toto Japan Classic last year.
Her driving was again impressive on the day. She missed just two fairways while averaging 300 yards off the tee with plenty of power. She missed only four greens in regulation, and her 29 putts were solid.
