Hitting long drives is every golfer's dream. Even if your scorecard falls short, one exhilarating blast down the fairway can earn the envy of your playing partners and make you the star of the round. We asked pro golfer Lee Jong-hyuk, nicknamed the "Distance Monster" for his drives exceeding 360 yards, to share his secrets.
Lee's first piece of advice is to practice extending the impact zone. Even with the same amount of force, a longer impact motion reduces backspin, boosting both distance and accuracy. He suggests swinging as if sweeping imaginary fallen leaves off the ground toward the target using a broom or snow shovel. Maintaining a longer impact zone also creates a sense of ease in both mind and swing, increasing the chance of striking the ball on the center of the clubface.
