Bryson DeChambeau has struck gold, claiming back-to-back victories on the LIV Golf circuit.
DeChambeau won the LIV Golf South Africa tournament, which carried a total purse of $30 million, at The Club at Steyn City in Midrand near Johannesburg on Saturday.
The American fired a 5-under-par 66 in the final round to finish at 26-under 258, tied with Jon Rahm of Spain. DeChambeau secured the title with a birdie on the par-5 18th hole in the first playoff hole. The victory follows his win at the Singapore event last week. In Singapore, DeChambeau also prevailed in a playoff, defeating Canada's Tom Kim.
With his fifth career LIV Golf victory, DeChambeau completed a double triumph as his team, Crushers GC, also claimed first place in the team competition. His consecutive wins in Singapore and South Africa netted him $8.9 million (approximately 13.4 billion won) in prize money in just two weeks.
Individual winners at LIV Golf events receive $4 million each, totaling $8 million for his two victories. From the team competition, DeChambeau earned $150,000 (25% of $600,000) for finishing sixth in Singapore and $750,000 (25% of $3 million) for winning this week, bringing his team earnings to $900,000.
Song Young-han finished tied for 17th at 16-under alongside Sergio Garcia of Spain. Tom Kim, last week's runner-up in Singapore, tied for 31st at 12-under, while An Byeong-hun tied for 44th at 8-under.
