Hwacheon County in Gangwon Province is operating a children's park golf program for local kindergarteners and elementary school students.
The county announced on the 18th that it will run the "Children's Park Golf Class" from next month through November. The program began in 2023 and is now in its fourth year, with participants from local kindergartens and registered elementary schools.
The county provides full support for park golf course access and all necessary equipment including clubs, balls, gloves, and ball markers to ensure smooth operations. Classes are conducted by certified park golf instructors alongside homeroom teachers, combining basic theory with hands-on practice. Safety officers are deployed during outdoor sessions to enhance safety management.
Participating children will learn park golf progressively from fundamentals to theory and practice. The county also plans to host the "Hwacheon Education Chief Cup Children's Park Golf Tournament" this fall in conjunction with the program.
County Governor Choi Moon-soon said, "Park golf is a sport that children can easily enjoy due to its low equipment burden," adding, "We expect positive effects not only on physical development and concentration improvement but also on expanding the sport's base."
