
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has congratulated the South Korean women's national football team on qualifying for the World Cup finals.
In a congratulatory letter sent to Korea Football Association President Chung Mong-gyu on the 17th, Infantino wrote, "On behalf of the entire football family, I congratulate Korea on qualifying for their fifth FIFA Women's World Cup."
In the letter, co-signed with FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström, Infantino added, "This remarkable achievement is a testament to the united efforts and unwavering determination of everyone involved. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the players, the coaching staff including the head coach, the support staff, and all the passionate football fans in Korea."
He continued, "I wish the Korean women's national team the best of luck for the remainder of their 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup journey and look forward to seeing them again at next year's FIFA Women's World Cup finals."
The Korean women's national team, following their 6-0 victory against Uzbekistan in the quarterfinals, will face Japan for a spot in the final at Stadium Australia in Sydney at 6 p.m. Korean time on the 18th.
